The Liberal Democrats have a record of success in North Somerset. We have successfully campaigned for the Portishead Line, and investment into our parks and community facilities. We are putting pressure on the council to improve its environmental record whilst investing in affordable housing. And we have stood up for local residents on the council.
Lib Dems have made sure council tax remains one of the lowest in the region. In contrast, council taxes in Labour-run Bristol are £369 a year higher, and when the Conservative ran North Somerset Council they cut front line servcies to the brink.
North Somerset deserves better.
Local people are fed up with being taken for granted. They know that the hard-working Lib Dem team are demanding better for North Somerset, and they’re switching their vote to us. On 4th May vote for a stronger local voice in North Somerset. Vote Liberal Democrat.

Since 2019, when we formed a 'Rainbow Coallition' at North Somerset Council, we have not only supported our towns and villages through the most challenging time in recent memory but also delivered on our priorities – building more affordable homes, tackling the climate crisis, delivering and safeguarding local facilities, progressing projects talked about for decades, securing inward investment in North Somerset and working tirelessly in our local communities. All of this despite falling national funding and rising financial pressures.
Councillor Mike Bell, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group, North Somerset Council
We will support our village and town centres to stay strong. We will continue to attract inward investment into North Somerset to create new jobs. We will promote the district as a high skill place to do business, especially in green technology.
We will improve our special education needs and disabilities service, back our schools and colleges to provide the best education and give young people opportunities to learn, live, play and work in North Somerset.
We will continue to invest in CCTV, campaign for more police and PCSOs and strengthen North Somerset's community response service. We will focus on tackling antisocial behaviour and build crime prevention into all services.
We will deliver improvements to the bus network, complete the Portishead rail link and campaign to strengthen other stations and services. We will invest in keeping North Somerset clean and green and deliver on our net zero commitments.
We will provide more affordable homes for local families and individuals, including building a new generation of council houses. We will plan for deliverable and sustainable new homes and resist Conservative plans to concrete over green fields.
A greener, safer, fairer North Somerset
