Council Coronavirus Update 1: RESPONDING TO COVID-19
North Somerset Council provided a briefing for Councillors today (March 19th) on the council's response to Coronavirus. Here’s a brief summary of the key messages:
🧴 Wash your hands with soap & water more often: after journeys & sneezing, before you eat & handle food
🤝 Our community have jumped to support each-other in response to the pandemic. To support this, North Somerset Council will offer advice, training, funding and guidance to vulnerable individuals, community action groups, and people looking to volunteer.
🗞 the Council will use online and paper communications (@NorthSomersetC) to distribute key information, signpost services, and tackle misinformation.

Council Sets Budget and Adopt Corperate Plan
North Somerset Council has set its most open, fair, and green budget to date for the year ahead, agreed at a meeting last week (Tuesday 18 February). The rainbow administration's Budget will see a council tax rise of 1.99% in April in addition to a 2% levy the government has allowed local authorities to raise specifically to help fund the increasing costs and demand for adult social care. This means the average Band D council tax bill for council services in the coming year will be £1,433.50.

North Somerset Liberal Democrats hosted their Annual Dinner on February 21st 2020. The event in Long Ashton attracted nearly 100 Liberal Democrat members and supporters.
Last Friday, the North Somerset Liberal Democrats hosted their Annual Dinner. Cllr Sue Mason, Chair of the North Somerset Liberal Democrats, thanked the hall of around 100 Liberal Democrat members and supporters to celebrate the election of seven new Lib Dem Councillors in the Council and a vote share increase of over 8% in the North Somerset Constituency during the General Election.

North Somerset Backs Ash
North Somerset has rallied behind North Somerset's local Lib Dem Candidate, Cllr Ashley Cartman, who has soared ahead at the starting post this election. Judging from the fantastic response our Lib Dem Campaigners have had on the door and in our campaign events, We think Ashley Cartman is the local champion North Somerset desperately needs to demand better for our constituency!
